Downtown Las Vegas - Casino History of Fremont Street

I love all the nice hotels on the strip, but I still have a fondness of Downtown Vegas due to its rich history and memories there.  I was just out of high school, when me and some friends started going to Vegas in the mid to late 80's and we always stayed downtown.  A friends Uncle would get us casino rates at the Union Plaza so we gambled a lot there, also at the Mint, Golden Nugget, Las Vegas Club to name a few.  In the 90's, we would stay at the Golden Nugget or the Sam Boyd's California Hotel.

When I started collecting chips, I started collecting chips from old clubs that are no longer around, like Club Bingo, California Club, Boulder Club, to name a few.  As I got more into the hobby, I read up on the history and loved looking at old pictures and post cards.   I was interested in where these old clubs where and what was now in there place, which brings me to the map I made of Fremont Street and to show when and where the casinos and clubs were relative to each other now and in the past.

Most of the address and dates were from a Club Magazine article* written by Pam Goertler and Fuller's Index of Nevada Casinos.   This map was made before the Fitzgerald's changed to the D.  Click on the map so you can see a bigger version of the map.
